About This Site
StreetCurio turns a Street View panorama into the start of a small detour. An unusual building, a remote road, an animal in the wrong place or a camera glitch can all be reasons to stop and look around. Random takes you to a recorded place with a name and location, while Explore lets you follow a country or a particular kind of curiosity. Open a field note for context, or save a favorite before moving on. The pleasure is in noticing something you would never have thought to search for.
How to Explore
Open StreetCurio and press Random, or use the R shortcut, to choose another place. Look around inside the Street View panorama, then try the country and category filters when you want a more specific direction. Explore opens the wider catalog. Use Favorite to save a scene in your browser, Share to pass it along, and Recent to revisit places from your browsing session.
GOOD TO KNOW
FAQ
- Does Random pick any coordinate on Earth?
- It picks from published place records with location context and a scene to explore, rather than arbitrary coordinates.
- Where are my favorites saved?
- Favorites stay in your browser. They are useful for returning to a scene on the same device.
- Are the panoramas live?
- No. They are Street View imagery. Coverage and available panoramas can change as Google updates its service.
- Can I browse without using Random?
- Yes. Explore, country pages and categories let you choose what to look at next.
