THE IDEA
About Guess the Pup
You know a good dog when you see one. But do you know its breed? Guess the Pup puts your dog knowledge to the test with twenty-seven real photographs randomly selected from a larger photo library, four possible answers, and a clock that gets a little less patient with every round. Look closely at those ears, coats, and very good faces, then make your choice. Every correct answer earns a point, and every round reveals the right breed so you can learn as you play. Finish the set to discover your dog-spotting rank, then replay to meet a different set of dogs.
How to Play
Enter a name and start the quiz. Each round shows one dog photograph and four breed names. Tap or click your answer before the countdown reaches zero. The first question gives you ten seconds; each new question removes one second until the timer reaches a five-second minimum. A correct answer earns one point. Wrong answers and timeouts earn no points, but the correct breed is always revealed before the next photo. Complete all twenty-seven rounds to see your score and rank. Replay selects new photographs and shuffles the question order and answers.
GOOD TO KNOW
FAQ
- How many dogs are in each quiz?
- Each quiz contains twenty-seven real dog photographs, with each breed appearing once. Each photo is randomly selected from that breed’s local photo library. Replaying uses a different photo for every breed, and shuffles the question order and the four answer choices.
- Why does the timer get faster?
- The quiz begins with ten seconds per question. It decreases by one second each round until it reaches five seconds, then stays at five seconds for the rest of the quiz. The countdown starts after the photograph loads.
- What happens if I choose the wrong breed?
- The correct breed is revealed and the quiz moves on automatically. You earn one point for a correct answer and zero for a wrong answer or a timeout. There are no penalty points.
- Can I play on my phone?
- Yes. Tap the breed buttons to answer. The quiz also works with a mouse or keyboard. Leaving the browser tab or opening the exit confirmation pauses the countdown so you do not lose time while the quiz is hidden.
- Where do the dog photographs come from?
- The dog photographs come from Wikimedia Commons, with individual author and license details linked below the game. The quiz stores its photos locally so there is no live image search while you play.
