THE IDEA
About Stone Skipping
There is no rush at this river. Find a smooth, flat stone on the shore, take a breath, and see how far a little timing can take you. Stone Skipping recreates the simple pleasure of skipping stones in a low-poly mountain valley, with moving water, soft evening light, and a breeze that has ideas of its own. Eight stones make an afternoon. Your best throw leaves a ghost to race next time. This independent recreation is inspired by MIZUKIRI by AMIX.
How to Play
Choose Free Play, Target Practice, or the Daily Challenge. Select a stone from the shore or the numbered choices, then take it to the river. Drag horizontally or use the arrow keys to aim. Hold the throw button or Space to charge, then release before the power meter wraps around. Press once more when the angle needle reaches the golden band. Flat stones and low, powerful throws travel further. Each session has eight stones. Press P or Escape to pause.

FAQ
- Does it work on a phone?
- Yes. Tap to select a stone, drag to aim, hold and release the throw button to set power, then tap again to set the angle. The river requires WebGL.
- What makes the daily challenge different?
- Everyone gets the same date-seeded stones and wind. You get one eight-stone attempt per UTC day in this browser. Unfinished attempts resume, and each stone is counted when released so a reload cannot retry it.
- How do targets and records work?
- Twelve floating targets award more points at longer distances. Clearing all twelve adds 100 points. Your personal-best throw and target score are saved locally when browser storage is available. A translucent stone replays your best throw in Free Play and the Daily Challenge.
- Is there sound?
- Gentle river ambience and water-drop effects start when you begin playing. Use Sound on/off to mute or enable them; your choice is saved. Switching tabs pauses the game and silences the river.
